TMS Payment Options
The cost of TMS depends on the course format recommended after your assessment and the number of sessions involved. Current fees and payment terms are provided by the practice when you enquire.
Dr Charles currently offers different TMS course formats, including:
-
iTBS: the usual starting protocol. 3 sessions a day, every working day, over 10 working days; under an hour of your time per visit.
-
Standard rTMS: 1 session a day, five days a week, typically around six weeks; each session under 20 minutes.
To be considered for TMS Treatment you need a referral first, from your GP, psychologist, or another doctor. Costs and possible side effects are also explained at the free 15-minute discovery session, so you have the full picture before deciding anything.
Fees, Funding and Your Care
Fee for Service
Payment may be made per session or as a prepaid course.
Fees and payment terms can change. The practice will provide a current written quote when you enquire and before treatment begins.
Medical Aid Motivation
Some medical schemes may consider a motivation for TMS, generally where treatment-resistant depression is involved. The practice can explain the funding-request process during your assessment.
Clinical Treatment Decisions
Medical-aid benefits, authorisation and personal liability depend on your scheme and plan. Funding is not guaranteed, and a motivation or approval does not mean that TMS will be recommended. Treatment decisions remain clinical.
A referral is required before any appointment can be offered. If you don't currently have one, please ask your GP or another doctor to refer you
Once a referral has been received and Dr Charles has reviewed it, the practice can discuss current fees, available course dates, course formats and medical-aid funding with you. To speak to reception, call 021 761 1188.
If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, go to your nearest hospital emergency centre for assistance. This website is not an emergency service.
